Hi there, I noticed recently that our lower oven doer was slightly open. We have used it maybe 5 times since new 9 years ago. The light still turns on/off and the oven works but may leak heat. When the door is fully open it sits lower than flat. I suspect the hinges are bent but would like some advice. The repair service I called suggested it was about a $400 repair. I am pretty mechanically inclined and would like to try and tackle this one myself. I removed the door and took it apart. I cannot find anything wrong with the hinge but perhaps it is bent somewhere i cannot see. Suggestions?!

Thanks I tried that and disassmbled the door to look at the hinge. I cant see anything wrong. Is a replacement hinges the correct item to replace?

I have had to replace my hinges twice and they are now 'loose' again.

The first set actually sheared off when I opened the hot door.

Second set failed within 2months. I hadn't used the door 10 times.

Now the top door hinges have failed again.

When the repairman fixed the first set I held the old and new hinges side by side and matched the edges. The difference was so slight I could barely see it.

After the second set failed the home warranty company accused me of misusing the appliance and refused to replace them again. Unbelievable. Kitchenaid denies any idea of numerous hinge failure complaints.

Let me know if you have any great ideas on how to keep the door closed. Mine is currently tied to the cabinet knob above it with a leftover bit of christmas ribbon. Classy let me tell you.
