My freezer coils were completely frosted over and the refrig had uneven cooling (too cold in bottom of frig, too warm up top). I tested the defrost thermostat and element with the following results:

Thermostat: 0.2 Ohms cold, open circuit when warm
Heater element: 21 ohms with thermostat closed, 240k when thermostat open

So those seem to be ok as far as I can tell. From the forums, it seems that the adaptive control board might be a problem, but I'm having trouble accessing it on hte refrig side, and when I do how do I test it? Is there anything else I should do to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance!

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for JENN-AIR JSD2789DEW Ref - SXS/I&W | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is a manual
16010154 Maytag Refrigerator Service Manual - ApplianceDigest.com
You may have to join the site to download the manual but it is a good site to belong to.

I do not like the 0.2 ohms on the thermostat but this may just be a 0 offset in the meter.
If the thermostat is bulged it should be replaced irregardless of the reading.

Since the heating element and thermostat check out OK then all that is left is the adaptive defrost control.

Thanks for the reply. I can't seem to access the manual. Is it too painful to explain how to get to the adaptive control and test it? Thanks!
