model TCC18ZAABWW. The light stays on all the time, it heats up the fridge and melted the plastic housing. Anyone with some advise out there would be great. Thanks.

I don't know where that door switch is. There aren't any signs anywhere to indicate a switch or magnetic contact. I went around the jamb and door with a magnet, nothing. It's a Canadian unit.

I could not find a match to your unit's model number. I am also a Canuck so I know that we get short changed by companies when it comes to information. After some searching yours may be like the following, I hope!! Replacement parts for General Electric TCD18PADARWW Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.comIt shows a magnetic pad (Item 170 in Section 2). Looks like it is at the bottom of the fresh food door in the center. Also a reed switch (Item 18 in Section 3) in the units divider. I think the magnet opens the reed switch when the door is closed. Check that the pad is there. You could also run a magnet along the bottom of the fresh food frame to see if the switch will shut off the light. |
