I have a loud hum / buzz coming from the refrigerator. This is a freezer on bottom unit. The hum is louder when the door to either the fridge or freezer is open.
I assume this is the Evaporator Fan Motor. It sounds just like the sounds we had last year before the unit stopped working, and a service person replaced the "Evap Fan Motor" with part# WR60X10069.
I am relatively handy, but have not worked on appliances much.
Here are my questions:
Can I be sure the noise is from the Evaporator Fan Motor? How do I discover if I need a new motor? How do I access the motor (I could use step-by-step instructions or a picture)?
Thanks in advance for any help.

According to the parts lookup your frig should take WR60M132 and the WR60x10069 doesn't cross over to that part. So I would say you have the wrong fan motor in it.

If you can gain access to the evap fan, turn it physically, to see if the fan blade is actually rubbing or striking any part of the compartment. If it is, you may be able to make slight adjustments to correct it. If you're very careful with the wiring, you may want to disconnect the fan leads and apply a test cord (120 VAC) and run the fan at speed to see if any obstruction or bearing problem is causing the noise.

Actually V2K WR60x10069 is the correct part# for the fan motor. These refers are abit tricky to get to the fan assy. Most the time on these fridges, the defrost water gets backed up freezes and the fan blade starts hitting the ice.

Thanks for your replies so far. Can anyone point me to step-by-step instructions or a picture of how I access the motor?
