I have a Roper dryer, I have replaced the belt (although the old was not broken) but the dryer will heat up (even with the door open) but the drum does not turn. Why?:(

Pull the element and see if it is broken and hitting the metal case. If not, the motor switch is shorted, and the whole motor will need to be replaced. Tom Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts
