Hi Bob, I would recommend to replace the transmission together with the break assembly. You can find the complete instructions in the Service manual.- The part number for the transmission is AP3456108 - The part number for the break assembly is AP171063 Gene.

Could the transmission pulley just not be engageing the transmission and if so is there a way to get the pully off from the bottom with out pulling the entire trans out?

I forgot to ask you if the pump drains fine? It should remove water first, before the transmission engaged.
If there is nothing wrong then check for anything stuck between the outer and the inner tubs.
Remove the belt and manually turn the pulley CW. It should ride up the ramps of the helix, applying pressure on the break and forcing it to release from the break pads. Possible the broken break pads causing this problem and you do not have to replace the transmission at this time.
In order to remove the pulley just remove the screw, the washer and the helix securing the pulley to the input shaft.
Gene.

removed the belt and spun the transmission pulley manually and it does ride up the heliex and moves the brake rotor up also and spins freely. the brake pads currently in machine are broken and doing nothing. when should they engage and where do they get positioned.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP GENE.

At this point I would replace the break assembly, the pulley and the helix. - The part number for the pulley is AP175336 - The part number for the helix is AP175337 Gene.

Which part did you call "break rotor"? Also I did not give you the part number for the break pads kit. It is AP4245881 Gene. P.S. I believe you can find answers on most of your questions in the Service manual, posted earlier.

Gene thanks for the help the noise is gone. The only problem is that to get the machine to spin I have to put tension on the belt. It is a new belt. To work for now I rigged up the spring on the tensioner to put more tension on the belt. Should I also replace the belt tensioner and spring, or will the new brake pads soon wear in a little bit.
P.S. I did install some grease on the brake pads like instructed.
