We are replacing the seal on our Frigidaire chest freezer and now see that there are plastic clips holding the old one on.

Can these be removed and reused? Is there a tool needed to remove them?

You can remove and reuse these clips but they won't be as good as using new ones... Age factors in here as the plastic grows brittle over time... And no special tool I'm aware of... You probably saw the AP2140317 replacement clips in the diagram so if the originals snap in two or crumble then you can at least get some new ones... cheers, kooler

Yes, I saw the clips kit. Do I just pry them out with a putty knife?
