Refrigerator makes load noise when fan shuts off, and makes rumbling noise while running, The unit keeps cold both in freezer and lower half. Could this be just the fan bearings or am I looking at a compressor problem?

Depending on where the noise is actually coming from. It could be the bearings in one of the fan motor, fan blade itself off balance or it could be coming from the heat exchanger. You will need to locate the origin of the noise to determine what the solution maybe. If it from a fan replace the appropriate fan motor and/or blade, if it's from the heat exchanger carefully turn the drier slightly (maybe a 1/4 turn or less)
