The dryer was making a rumbling sound and I smelled burnt rubber, so I replaced the belt. It is still making the rumbling sound. I was going to replace the drum roller wheels next. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Note: the roller for sale on this site for my dryer is listed at $53, wondering if that is per roller, or for the set?
Thanks, Doug

Since you replace the belt, I know you know how to take it apart. So, take the front of, and on the left side bottom, is the blower wheel that is attached to the motor. Sometimes they break. The best way to check it is, turn the blower wheel by hand. If it spins, without moving the drum, that is your problem. If it is OK< then replace the 2 drum rollers, and the idler pully wheel, that the belt goes around. It would be best to give the parts people at AppliancePartsPros a call. It could well be per roller as it is the roller and the shaft, This sort of indicates to me that they have had problems with the shafts wearing. They look like plastic to me. Normally you can get just the roller.
At that price I would not order anything till you open it up and find the bad part. Odds are it is only one roller either shaft wear or the roller going out of round.
With luck someone else will jump in with just a roller that will fit and be less expensive. 4 rollers at $53.00 is a bit much.
I would also check the drum where the rollers ride perhaps something has stuck to the drum surface. Also check the drum seams. |
