My GE dishwasher fills with water but won't turn on, the timer will count down and then drain and refill but never turn on to wash the dishes, if I hit the reset button it will drain. Any ideas on this? Thanks

Here are your parts Replacement parts for General Electric PDW7880J10SS Dishwasher | AppliancePartsPros.comSince it fills and drains you know your power is good. Check across the wash motor for 120 volts when it should be washing. If it has 120 volts and does not turn and does not make any noise then the motor is probably toast. With the door open or power removed from the unit you could try rotating the motor's armature using the fins on the back of the motor to see if it is jammed. Though usually a motor will hum if it is jammed and receiving power. If it does not have 120 volts, check the wiring back to the control board to be sure it is OK. If the wiring is OK then the control board is probably shot. |

Thanks! Of course, to get to the motor, I have to pull the unit out. Is it safe to run the diagnostic mode while the water is not hooked up?
