I have replaced control board, heating element and thermal fuse...all needing it. Now it will run a cycle with the LIGHT cycle light randomly flickering, do not see a code with the flashes they are to random. It eventually shuts down. I hit cancel and it will start the drain process and shutdown in this cycle as well...with the light cycle light flashing and 2 dashes on the timer... I am thinking the touch pad. Can anyone verify or give any other suggestions

Something we used to do, Put a thin coat of di electric grease on the ribbon and control board connections, to reduce moisture and debris from getting into the connection and causing failure. Good Luck, :) :) :)

Any suggestion on a name brand that will last. I had way to many things wrong with this dishwasher

Maytag was swallowed up about four years ago by Whirlpool Corp. So, if you buy the maytag machine, highly likely that you're getting a Whirlpool-made appliance. Don't let one bad machine spoil the name, though: Whirlpool appliances are known to be quite reliable. I would stick with an American-made appliance, that you can at least get parts for.

Any thoughts Bige, I have to agree with Magician, Buy American, Whirlpool Corp. acquired Maytag Corp. in late 2006, Any Maytag product you purchase is a Whirlpool built / designed unit by now. But still a good product. Decide what you want and expect the product to do, then purchase on that basis, If you don't need the top of the line machine, don't get the top of the line machine. Good Luck. :) :) :)

I'm a former United States Marine. It's American all the way. All I want is a dishwasher to wash dishes with out repairing it every year. I was just looking for a name or model # of a dependable dishwasher that has a proven track record.

Bige, Based on my preferences, you may want to look for a W/P GU3100 series dishwasher, or it's equivalent,( Jenn Air, Maytag,Kitchen Aide) it's a mid line unit with plenty of options and a stainless steel interior. It's been around for a while, has a pretty good reliability record. Good Luck,
