Hello All, Getting a new Kenmore electric dryer, and know have found out that I have an odd dryer plug in this old house. the previous dryer has been hooked up and ran without incident for over 10 years. the recepticle is three equal blades, it looks like the attached picture. the breaker is double pull 30 amp. any suggestions as to the best way to make a new dryer work with this type of plug? thanks alot in advance. mcdude attached the following image(s):

If the new dryer is a 4 wire connection. The easiest would be to remove the line cord from the old dryer and install it on the new unit. Since a 4 wire has separate ground and Neutral hook ups, you will have to install a ground strap from the Neutral connection on the unit's terminal strip (usually center connector) to the unit's frame. See below. OR If you want to update to 4 wire then you will have to probably run a new wire from the electrical box and also replace the wall receptacle. If the new dryer is a 3 wire connection. You could transfer the cord from the old unit. The ground strap should already be installed in the dryer OR You could replace the wall receptacle with a more modern type that matches the dryer's line cord.
