Hello
WE have a Roper Top load washer. Recently it began draining like it should after the wash cycle but then instead of spinning out to go into the risne cycle it would stop... if you let it sit for a bit it and turn it back on it will finish the cycle.

Pump seems to work ok and it agitates and spins... only issue is that it has begun to randomly stop mid cycle... like this and it has to sit before it will go again?

ANY IDEAS? Motor?

THanks!

Sounds like the motor is overheating and it only happens in the spin cycle. I would look for something stuck in the tub, or dragging brake shoes. Go to the general talk section and put in the search box "Replacing direct drive brake shoes"

THanks...

If there was something wrapped around or caughter under the agitator... could that cause this.. WE noticed before it began doing this , that we had to pull socks and a few washrags out that were half under the agitator stuck well and it had never done this before?

SO now wondering if there is something caught under there we missed? Not sure how we check that... maybe remove agitator somehow... what do youthink?

THanks for your help.

THe washer will go through the wash cycle fine then drain out to go into the spin b4 the rinse .. it will spin out for a min or 2 then stop.... if we let it sit then we can turn it back on and it will finsih the cylce fine
SOmetimes it will make it all the way through the cycle withg no problems other times its stops there or occasionally will go through the wash cycle and stop after the rinse cycle after it drains but before it spins out...

Larger loads seems to cause more trouble then smaller ones.

THe washer is only 14 mos old and was a cheap roper and gets heavy use. IT will cost us way to much to service it may as well buy a new one.
That why I asked if something could be caught under there causing problems like this. IT does not always atop and does not always do it after wash cycle sometimes its after the rinse.. sometimes not at all...

Yesterday I washed 3 loads no trouble... the washer sat for 12 hours unused then I put one load in and boom we are waiting for it too sit so we can turn it back on...... IF we do not turn it off it will sit for about 1 hour then it will turn back on on its own and finish the cycle. IT does nto seem to make a difference how long it has to sit if we let it sit still turned on or if we shut it off... about the same amount of time. Usually about 1 hour.

WHat do you think?
WE appreciate your help!
THanks!
