Hi,

I have a QuietPower 7 Dishwasher, maybe three years old? In the last few weeks the top rack has not been cleaning particularly well and the bottom rack could be better.

I called GE and they had me test the flow rate, the water temp, rinse aid etc but even on the anitbacterial wash with a prewash nothing gets very clean.

The glasses in particular have small bits on them.

The drain for the dishwasher drains into the waste disposal and the the stuff on the glasses looks like it might be chopped up waste but it could also be remnants from the stuff I'm trying to get clean.

I've checked in the bottom of the dishwasher that there is nothing blocking the debris guard, I've run vinegar through the system and done a few rinse cycles into a bucket to wash out the waste pipe; the water that comes out from this comes out clean if there is nothing in the dishwasher.

I'm quite practical so not afraid to take anything apart I need to, I just need to know where to start. A few weeks ago but after this started there was a squeal once but that has since stopped.

Thanks,

Andrew

Andrew,

Have you checked the water level, to make sure you're getting the proper amount ?

The water level should cover the filterscreen at a minimum (1.2 gal) or as high as the heater element bracket.

Start the dishwasher and let run approximately 5 minutes, unlatch the door and let rest for 30 seconds, then open door and check water level.

Another posibility to check for is :

Liquid detergents have a tendency to separate and foam up in the wash cycle, when they get old, your best bet is a plain(no additives)powderred detergent.

Rinse agents can do the same, especially when they interact with the detergent, left over from the foaming action.

Good Luck,

:) :) :)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The water level covers the grey plastic in the bottom, maybe an inch deep and is just over element bracket.

Do you have any other suggestions? As I said I'm not afraid to dig around the back of it but I need to know what to look at.

Thanks,

Andrew

If you're sure the other checks are OK,

You'll need to remove the filter screens, spray arms, etc and check the sump, for clogs and build up.

Then, you will need to remove the motor assembly and check for a damaged wash impeller, and clogged screens, there.

I'm including a parts diagram, so you'll have a rough idea what to expect.
