I came home from vacation to find everything in my unit baked. It was blowing out hot air. I cleaned it up and unplugged it to let it sit and cool down. When I plug it in there is a buzzing noise coming from the back where the wires come into the compressor. The noise occurs for about 30 secs and then there is a click and it goes silent. After a minute or two it repeats the same thing over and over again

Is it time to put this baby to rest

Not necessarily. You may just need to replace the PTC (start relay) and overload protector. See part #s 13 and 18 in the diagram.Unit parts replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL ED2PHEXMQ00 Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com
