My Maytag side by side refridgerator, model # MSD2422GR leaks from the bottum and water freezes in the bottum of the freezer where the basket sits. We have unhooked all the water lines and it is still doing it!:(

You have a clogged drain. Open the freezer and thaw out all the ice. Remove the pannel at the back of the freezer. This will expose the evaporator coil and the drain. It's in the center right below the evaporator. Take a turkey baster or a similar utensil, with hot water. Drip the hot water into the drain to mely any ice that may be there. Do you hear it going into the drip pan? Then it's clear. No sound, or running into the freezer compartment? Then you'll need to "snake" it out with a piece of wire. Make sure you don't puncture the soft plastic of the drain tube. [COLOR="Red"]Be very careful: Those fins on the evaporator ar like razors![/COLOR]

I have never seen a drain tube so badly clogged that the obstruction couldn't be pushed through. You can do it. What I would do is form a small loop in the end of a piece of clothes hanger, so it won't tear or puncture the tube. Then just gently curve the length of wire, so that it can push the obstacle through the tube, into the drip tray.

Magician59 - thanks again for your reply. I actually took a length of soft solder and while dripping in some hot water, was able to push the blockage right out of the line. There was a huge amount of ice buildup on the drip tray under the evaporator as well. No wonder the kitchen flooded daily! Now to see if the ice machine will work properly!

Tried hot water and hanger in the drain below coils in my Frigidaire (FRS24XHA) but water still standing...didn't want to push hanger too hard...but will try again...someone suggested bleach?
Any other suggestions?
