To begin with my ice maker was not working and my freezer wasn't staying cold enough. I completely cleaned out the refrigerator and defrosted the freezer. There was a thick layer of frost or ice on the back wall of the freezer. I turned the unit back on and all was well. Now about 2 weeks later the refigerator is not staying cold enough and the ice is forming on the back of the freezer again but the ice maker was still working.
I keeping seeing this issue and the nots say to check the defrost timer, the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. How do I check each one and determine what needs to be replaced and are these all things that I can do myself or do I need to call a repairman? I am a single mom with a limited income so anything I can do would be much easier.
Any answers that I can get ASAP would be great appreciated, I need someplace to put food for my family. Thanks
