The self cleaning door latch, is stuck shut! I cant open the oven now. I may have pushed the latch too far to the right. I unplugged the oven from the wall and plugged it back in. That didnt help. I tried to pull the oven top up to access the area but it wont lift up. I read somewhere that you could possibly use a knife or something and manually unlatch it.But maybe i dont exactly where to put the knife or screwdriver in the whole and find what im supposed to move. So i need help on figuriing out how to get the latch to work again or take it out and never use the self cleaning function , because they no longer make this part at ge. That is if it is broken . Maybe some independent parts places will still have this part in stock somewhere. part # wb2k42 if needed. dont want to spend money on a repair person since i am so handy myself. thank you Larry

first you need to remove the screws from each of the top burners, there should be 3 for each burner, then slide a putty knife under the cooktop about 2-3 inches from the edge of the cooktop to release the spring clips, then lift up and there will be your latch motor assembly.

Ok great so far , I got the top up and open. I can see the latch assembly, I was even able to move the latch to it's original hiding spot which was all the way to the left. However, the actual latch itself is still stuck. I still can't open the door. I have tried manually to move the latch that actually inserts in the door, which keeps the door locked and shut, but still can't move it far enough to release it and then open the door. I was hoping that by getting the latch to move back to the left it would be able to open again.I also unplugged the stove and unplugged one of the wires to the motor, and then plugged it all back. Nada. I checked for settings in the digital screen but didnt see anything. But I'm not sure I knew how to find all the possible settings to see if any needed to be corrected. So next step? Do you have a schematic diagram to attach so you could tell me which parts to move or touch so I can get that thing to move? Or maybe take off the metal under where the flame knobs are? And get better access yet? Chicken in the stove is starting to smell hehe. Thanks for getting me this far.
