I have had a repeating problem with the electronic clock / oven control panel on my Fridgidaire oven. Everything works great for about a month and then the control pad starts beeping and flashing F1. This has always happened in the middle of cooking, never as the oven is sitting idle.
I have been through 3 control panels in a year. Prior to this, I had an Admiral range with the same control panel and I went through two in that range before I bought a new oven. Things worked great for several years with the new oven and now I have the same problem. Incidentally, the control pad is the same for both ovens.
I have a new one ready to install, but am gunshy that it will ruin a new part - or is there a factory issue going on? Can I build a faceplate and wire in a good old-fashioned rotary thermostat to control the oven? The heating eyes work just fine.
Thanks in advance! - John
