My washer started making a funny noise mid-cylce. It then stopped running, started smelling like burnt rubber, and there was smoke. I heard that this might be a broken belt. Is that what it sounds like to you? If so, how do I replace the belt?

Remove the front panel (two screws on the bottom) and check the belt and the motor. Here are the break down diagrams for the Amana washer Model LW7503W2Gene.
