Earlier in the week, I noticed my refrigerator is running much too long at a time. The freezer is set on 4 (1 = warmest, 7 = coldest). If the refrigeration compartment is set on three, it runs for hours on end. If the setting is changed to 2, it won't come on for hours.

It's also noiser that usual when running, and there's a low volume, upper mid-frequency "singing" noise as well.

The doors are sealing properly, and neither the freezer nor the refrigeration unit is overcrowed.

Any information, suggestions, hints -- anything! -- will be most welcome.

Thanks,

Jim

Here are your parts

Try to locate the part that is "singing"

I have a feeling it is the evaporator fan in the freezer.
It could be that the fan is on it's last legs and is running slow.
It then does not pull sufficient air through the evaporator coils and make the cooling inefficient.

Also check that the condenser fan and check/clean the condenser coils.
They also effect the efficiency.

Denman,

Thanks for the quick response. I finally had time this (Sunday) afternoon to better check everything out and discovered the condenser fan works only with the assist of a quick hand turning.

Guess I'll be ordering one, eh? lol.

Thanks again,

jim
