Need help--turn dw on the unit would fill up with water-----but would not start washing---------you could hear the control panel hum 4 times like it was trying to start but it would then shut off------I would turn unit back on and then hit start cancel button to pump out the water------after looking over the blog forum--(great info) I proceded to remove parts down to the impeller and cutter blade-----------found stuff that should never be in a DW --imagine that--after replacing parts the unit worked but motor made a lot of grinding -harsh noise--------I took out all the parts again --even the cutter blade--- restarted unit ----everything works but with that harsh grinding noise-----have I lost a motor or bearings--or both---your suggestions would be quite helpful .

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAYTAG MDB8600AWW Dishwasher - Undercounter | AppliancePartsPros.comYou have probably already done this but check the pump parts 6, 8 and 9, to see if any of them are damaged or stripped internally. Try rotating the motor shaft to see if there is any grinding. If all OK the you probably need a new wash motor (Item 10). Looking at the price it may make more sense to purchase a new dishwasher unless the unit is in very good shape. |
