OK I love trouble shooting but I can't order $90 parts every week.
My gas dryer stopped heating. I replaced the thermostat on the drum. Nothing changed. The drum turns the pilot lights every few minutes but the gas never comes out.

I guess it could be the coils or the entire gas valve assembly. one is $15 theother $192. how do I know which to order?

95% of the times it is the coils on the gas valve. That is what I would replace. Tom Appliance Educator, Appliance Parts, Washer and Dryer Parts, Refridgerator and Freezer Parts, Stove and Oven Parts
