3 days ago the fridge side began to stop cooling and last night got down to practically room temp. I removed the freezer panel inside freezer side and coils were iced over. I defrosted with a hairdryer. Unit was off almost 3 hours. This morning there was a slight airflow from freezer into fridge side but sitll nowhere near the needed fridge temp.Temp now is about 55 in fridge. Coils underneath fridge were cleaned last night. Everything seems fine except the fridge side is around 55. Advise asap. Thank you. KC

I just finished working on an older Whirlpool side-by-side for a friend. We noticed that the front of the divider between the freezer and the refrigerator (the mullion heater) was getting very hot. Then we noticed there was no airflow from underneath the unit.
The problem was the condenser fan. It worked when I had the unit opened up, but apparently was intermittent. Replaced the condenser fan motor and blade, and the unit has been working fine for the past week.
