I have a side by side Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer that I purchased in 1997. Last week the icemaker froze completely over, just one glob of ice. I turned the refrigerator off and let it melt and then turned it back on, the icemaker did the same thing the next day. Coincidentally, the plastic water supply line on the back of the refrigerator started to leak at the 90-degree elbow at about the same time. I know very little about icemakers, but before I make a service call, I would like to try and repair (or replace if necessary) myself. Any help would be appreciated.

Jfish,

You most likely have a seeping fill valve, you may need to replace it.

Part number: AP3085178
Part number: AP3085178

The leak at the fill tube, is due to frozen water in tube, that will be gone if you use a hair dryer to warm it, or let it defrost itself.

Take care of the fill tube , before you replace the valve.
