Noticed the frig would make a buzzing sound for about 10sec every few hours. Now it is buzzing for 10sec but every minute or two.
The freezer is now at 45deg, the ice is melting, and the fridge is about 50deg.
In searching through some archives on this forum, I'm guessing perhaps my defrost cycle is not working correctly. Where is the defrost thermostat and defrost heater physically located?
The unit is 3 years old, side-by-side with ice and water in the door.
No excessive buildup on the front vent or the back cover. I haven't pulled the back cover off yet.
Any tips on where to start?
Thanks
Mark

You need to unplug it it either has a bad relay or a locked up compressor you can check LRA (locked rotor amp) by putting an amp prob on the common to see how many amps its drawing wjhen it's trying to start the compressor should have a rating on it what the acceptable limit is the most common would be the relay not starting compressor you can also ohm out each terminal on comressor for continuity and then to ground from each terminal that will tell you if its shorted to ground, you should have a 5 year compressor warranty but it doesn't cover the relay

I think the compressor is working. The buzzing only started about 2 weeks ago, and the frig and freezer worked fine throughout the 2 weeks. It was yesterday that the buzzing got super-frequent. It still has the quiet hum like the compressor is running, but this buzz kicks in every minute or two, and nothing is cold.
Does it still sound like compressor is the issue?

you need to pinpoint where exactly the buzz is originating from if possible

Went home at lunch and confirmed that the buzz is from the compressor. The quiet hum I heard was only the condenser fan. The frig is drawing 10.5A when the buzz is sounding, so i'm confident it's the compressor. Please redirect me if I'm wrong.
I contacted a local repairman because the compressor is still within 5 year warranty, but they still want to hit me for $94 for the service call.
That leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Warranty should mean warranty, not just help-defray-the-total-cost-of-the-repair.

If it's under warranty and they tried to hit you with a charge like that call Frigidaire directly and let them know. The service company can not do that, unless by chance you forgot to pay them on another service call in the past..... 1-800-374-4432 Nat
