Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 10/2/2010(UTC) Posts: 2		I have a Kenmore chest freezer that is 18 months old that stopped working a few days ago. The power light is on but nothing else is running. No fan, no compressor, nothing. I checked the outlet and house circuit breaker and they are fine. Since the freezer is the ancient age of 18 months old it is no longer covered under any warranty. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can check?

I've let is sit for several days to see if it was a defrost thing and the freezer is still not doing anything. The light is on but that's all...no hum ...nothing. Please help!

Check to see if the compressor is getting power. If it is it could be a start device problem or a compressor problem. If it is not getting power it could be a temperature control problem (thermostat) Here is a good site on how to check things. Note a freezer cooling system is basically the same as a fridge.
