We have had the error codes F2 and F3 displayed many times.
The oven has shut off completely while cooking without an error message.
Error messages and beeping have happened without it even being used - we return home from being out and the stove is beeping with a displayed error code.

All help is appreciated. If possible, I would like to fix this myself...soon.

Here are the parts breakdowns. I could not find your specific unit so please check the model number

Getting info on GE's is difficuly as they like to keep all tech info a secret.
Below is a link to some error codes for GE''s
http://www.************************.com/0078.asp#GE

Looks like it is a sensor error.
Since it is happening when the unit is not running I would say that it is a false error and the control board is toast.

I would still check/clean the connections going to the sensor as a bad connection will give an over temperature error. Just in case the control monitors the sensor all the time.

Here is a good link with info on sensors etc.

Looks like this site will not let me put a link to the error code site.
So I am trying this. To see the site remove the X's from the below, then paste it into your address bar or Google.

The stove came with the house and I have the owner's manual. The Model is JSP40...

I am not sure why the number that is on the stove can't be found - I also looked for it online with no luck.

The stove was purchased on 8/25/96. What is a reasonable life for a stove/range?

What is your suggested course of action? I looked for the control panel on the site, but want to ensure that I buy the right one. It looks like all of them are out of stock, though.

You mentioned cleaning the sensor...is there anywhere that can provide me some guidance on how to do this?

Again, I appreciate your help with this.
