i have a maytag dryer. everything seems to work fine except the heat doesn't come on. the glow stick glows but the gas doesn't come out. it has a 2 coil gas valve. if i touch the 2 tab coil connector the solenoid activates and the gas comes on. i inspected the connector and it looks fine. i actually soldered the wires connector. then pushed the connector on to the solenoid. still the same results. when i move the coil or connector the coil activates and the gas comes on. i pulled the solenoids off and everything looks OK. any insight into my problem.

this seems like the obvious solution. but why would the solenoid only work when it is moved. there is no external electrical connection problems. what you are saying is the solenoid is bad. but in my experience, either the solenoid would work (it has continuity) or it doesn't (no continuity). i'm wondering if the gas valve is a problem. on the other hand, this lends to the same thinking. the gas valve should not only work when you move a solenoid. there is no physical mechanical link between the 2. can you please expand on your solution. thanks
