i have this maytag the model number i can't find it fills with water and agitates but i can stop the agitator with my hand because there is not enough thrust being applied to the agitator, please help.

well if it's a dependable care washer the answer would be different than an Atlantis style the model tags on Maytags are accross the top of the control panel look over the machine as if you were trying to see behind it and it's on top of control panel

remove the front panel and first verify that the tubseal hasn't began to leak. The model you listed didn't come up But an LAT9200bAE did. This machine is 10-15 years old maybe more after the cover is off by removing the two phillips screws in front look at the center of the tub for water seeping where the tranny goes through the outer tub if it is let me know if it isn't and you want to keep this machine there is a process you can try but it takes a little work also let me know if its a split tub you'll see a big clamp going around it about 8 in down from the top
