About a year ago during the final spin cycle, the machine starting getting loud, like a jet engine. (Yes, we ignored this):rolleyes: Then the other day we put in a larger than normal load and it made a very loud banging around noise that we couldn't ignore. We opened the back and the belt was off, but it looked fine, so we just put it back on. We put in half the load of laundry, it sounded fine so we left, later on we smell a sort of burning smell and found the belt had come back off and now looked stretched and in bad shape. We ordered a new belt, we can get it on but when we turn the pulley by hand it keeps slipping back off. In reading similiar posts , it sounds like we might have a big problem. Before we call in a Pro, we would like to be prepared. Does this sound like a reasonably costing fix or should we save the $$ on the Pro , take a trip to the dump and buy a new washer? Thanks for any imput.
