My washer will fill with water but will not function in any other way. What is the problem? Do I need a new washer or is it worth fixing?

Actually, what happens is the lid gets droped now and then and there is a metal arm, that slides into the switch assembly to make contact. Try this. Unplug the washer, and grab the agitator, and pull it to the front right corner, so you can put your left hand in the back left hand corner to feel the thin metal arm. What you do is open the lid, and hold it there with your right hand, and then with your left hand push hard towards the back, and bend the rod a little. Make sure you hold on to the lid, because when you push back on the arm the lid will want to close. let me know how it goes. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
