When I light the Grill side of my Jenn-Air cooktop the downdraft blower is supossed to come on automatically as soon as the grill is lit....
If I turn the blower on with the switch it will come on but when I light the grill it turns off......
Is there a sensor that controls the downdraft blower when the "E" shaped grill is lit..........?
Right now I can light the grill and the blower won't come on.......
If I turn the blower on first and then light the grill, the blower shuts off....
This all started when I cleaned the "E" shaped burner yesterday and replaced the orifices on the Bar-B-Que side of the cooktop....
If I try to cook a steak without the blower I get smoke all over the house because the downdraft won't turn on.........

Thanks for any help....

John

Hi John,

Did you place the grill cartridge on the same side it was before? There is a pin on the cartridge which must go into a hole in the body of the stove to activate the fan switch.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Jenn Air stove Model JGD8130ADS

The "E" burner is on the same side.........I just took it out to clean it and replaced on orifice on the grill side...........
When I slip the burner back in, I have to line up the two venturi ends and two pins that control the sparkers....I don't see any other pin and I know nothing broke off while I was cleaning the burner........
I did send for a new "High/Low" switch........It seems like the blue wire on the left terminal looked a little weird........The blue wire may not have been connected and may have something to do with this......
The place I got the part from said that there is a "Pan" switch that controls the automatic mode of the fan when the gas knob is turned......
I have no idea where the "Pan" switch is located, but it shows in the wiring diagram.......
If the new switch up top doesn't fix the problem, I guess I'll replace that "Pan" switch, which is underneith in the black box........
If all else fails, I will figure a way to run the fan off of it's controller (Relay) and wire the fan motor so that I have to manually turn it on when I want the fan to operate.......Having it automatic is a pain sometimes when I want to use the grill without the downdraft.....There are some times when I want to use the "E" grill without the downdraft fan on at all, like when I'm doing fish and there really isn't any smoke to worry about....

Thanks for the reply, but I don't see any other pins except the two that control the sparker and they both work fine........

John
