My fridge keeps going out. It will go out and get hot (up to 76 degrees a few times), and it does this pretty frequently, up to 3x a week. Sometimes it starts cooling again by itself. Other times, if I unplug it for 3 or 4 minutes and then plug it back in, it will start cooling again. GE has told me that unplugging it resets the cooling mechanism.

The freezer works perfectly. Also, I have removed the small back panel a few times in the past and is it pristine. No dust, no ice or snow.

GE claims they can send someone out for $185 minimum but can't guarantee to fix it. Apparently this is because the fridge sometimes starts cooling on its own and their service people can never come immediately. In the meantime, I pretty much can't store food in it at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If nothing is working when it fails, you have a bad motherboard in the back AP4436216
You can remove it and check the back of the board near the power relay, probably bad solder joints that most people can easily fix with a solder iron and rosin core solder.
