Hi. I hope someone can help me. I purchased an older Maytag De50, 110 volt, portable dryer that was working fine ... for 1 week. :)
The drum rotates and it creates heat just fine. But it appears to not be venting any air out so it is overheating (and not drying my clothes). The lint trap is clean. I checked the vent port outside and there is nothing blocking it in any way. There is a LOT of moisture in the vent hose, so much so that it literally dripped out, tho!
When I first got the dryer, it had a metallic "clicking/tapping" noise that would come from the rear of the machine for the first few minutes of each load, but that stopped, and now it doesn't vent anymore.
Is this something that I can fix by removing the back cover and adjusting something or checking something? I'm not a technician by any means, but comfortable with tinkering. I just dont know what to look for and have never pulled the back of a dryer off. I am a poor college student who can't afford a big repair bill, and nobody locally will help me unless I hand over wads of money (that I dont have).
Hope someone can help me out! I need my dryer!! ;)

Just in case someone else runs into this issue...
It turns out that the dryer vent is run by a belt connected to a pulley system connected to the back of the dryer drum.
The rapping noise I was hearing was the belt going bad, and when it finally broke, the noise went away, and the dryer vent no longer operated.
$30 belt that is easily installed by removing the long pulley cover attached to the back of the dryer.
