We just replaced the door gasket this weekend; the door doesn't meet with the face when you close it unless you give it an extra hard push to engage the magnet inside the seal.

In looking at the door, it appears the gap between the box and the door itself is wider at the bottom than the top. How do I even the gap so the door can close correctly?

You don't, the seal will stretch out, If it needs help, use a hair dryer to HEAT the seal to soften it and it should be better. after a short period of time it will be OK.:)
