I have had this frig 5 yrs. All of a sudden I realize the refrigerator is running constantly and I notice the freezer seems to be working properly and it's making ice. But the refrigerator side is not cooling properly. I vacuumed the front and rear coils under refrigerator.( they were not excessively dirty ) Any quick fix to my problem?

Are the freezer coils freezing up? If so it may be a defrost problem. Check to see if the evap fan in the freezer is blowing? If it is and there is no ice build up on the freezer coils, you will have to remove the rear wall of the freezer, then it could be a cold control problem or a compressor issue. Also make sure the condenser motor is working and the compressor isnt running hot. On things like this where it could be so many things you may want to get a diagnosis form a tech and then decide what you want to do.

Pull the back freezer panel. If the freezer coils are entirely frozen up, check the little round defrost thermostat clipped on the evaporator while still cold it should be shorted. If ok, check the defrost heater,if ok. you probably have a bad defrost timer. Defrost the coils with a hair dryer. You can click on yor model # above for take apart info.

Dear richappy,

My side-by -side freezer is freezing up!
I have replaced : DEF Thermastat
DEF HEATER
PC board
& Evap fan motor
The ice cubes-WON'T freeze - but the ice builds up on coils.
What other part can it be causing this. Please email me
@ a24ktmom1@yahoo.com
Thx
Francis
