I have a double oven and the baking element in the top oven shorted out (it was arking like a welder before burning in two). I replaced the element and now it will not heat up correctly. It just warms up the oven after about 30 min. to almost 300. I dosn't turn red and heat up the oven. I switched the bottom oven baking element with the new part and it is doing the same, so its not the part. Do you know why the baking element will not heat up properly. Did the short (arking) cause damage to another part?

Try turning the oven breaker off waiting a few seconds and turning it back on then try the oven again. If that doesn't work you may need to check the thermostat(control) it may have shorted it out. Nat
