I have a Maytag Neptune gas dryer that started acting strange. When we have it set to sensor dry and on 'regular' heat the timer reads like 90 minutes and it does not get hot at all. Then if I change the heat setting lower, the time comes down to under 50 minutes and it seems to work OK. However now it wont go pass the 18 minute mark. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

Someone told me to change the control board and I see them on this site for $150.00

Is this something that a normal person can change with standard tools?

Think this would solve my problem?

Guessing is one of the most expensive way to fix appliances.

You may want to perform the troubleshooting by entering the Service mode as instructed in the Troubleshooting Guide.

Here is the Service manual.
