Hi,

My Whirlpool top loader has suddenly developed a load grinding noise while draining water - I assume the noise is coming from the pump (perhaps a coin or something lodged inside?).

I am having trouble removing the back cover of the washer - any suggestions appreciated.

dont remove the back.....just lean washer back ,under the front you can see the pump. 2 hoses attached. remove 2 clips from pump and pull away from motor try running again with pump off for about 10 seconds in spin if noise is gone replace pump

Thanks iamigor5 - that is certainly an easy way to check if the pump is the problem! Much appreciated.

Unfortunately the grinding noise remained after removing the pump, so it looks like I am up for a new gearbox :(

Are these easy to fit?
