I have a Kenmore Coldspot 10657072791 side by side. It will stop working and everything will melt. After I find the puddle on the floor (ice cubes), I turn the thermostat all of the way off and back on again. It kicks on and starts working. What is getting "reset" by turning it on and off again? Is it overheating? What do I need to replace to fix this? I also know that this started while I was on vacation and at some point the fridge turned back on and refroze everything again on its own. I did clean the very dirty coils the best I could....how ever there is still dust on them. Could it just need to be cleaned better?

Try to clean the coils very well, use a vacuum and a brush to do this. Check to see if that helps. Check to see if the fan near the compressor is running. I will look up your model number and see what I can tell from here.
Post all additional information you can on what the unit is doing.

The fan near the compressor was running when I looked at it. I will try to clean the coils better when I get home tonight. There was a lot of build up behind the front panel the first time I cleaned it. I tried a vacum to clean the coils but it didn't do anything. I didn't think the little bit of dust covering them would be a problem.

The coils near the compressor must be cleaned at least once a year for optimum function of the unit. If the unit kicks off and then you can turn the control off & back on again, it sounds like the thermostat control is going out.

you say that this also happened and it restarted by itself. I would say that the thermal-overload on the compressor opened due to overheating because of the dust accumulation. It is also possible the overload is weak from all the starting and stopping.
Buy a condenser brush it fits the hard to reach areas. :)
