This site is great! I fixed a malfunctioning door switch a couple of months ago by reading several posted topics.

Now this month... I didn't have time to mess around with it after it stopped agitating. The Sears repair guy was here yesterday and let me know the timer was the culprit. Instead of paying Sears $190 for the part and waiting 10 days before it would arrive, I found it online and had it overnighted.

BUT... I have no idea where I got the part number, but I ordered (and received) 131800500 instead of 131801000. The parts look EXACTLY alike (same size, connections, markings, etc.) except for the knob connection stem that pokes through the front of the machine. We went ahead and tried putting the new part on the machine, but absolutely NOTHING happens when it's plugged in (no lights, no clicky noises, nothing...). So, we put the old timer back on, and at least we get lights and the machine fills (but again, no tumbling).

So my questions: do I have a defective part 131800500? Will part number 131800500 work with my machine if I buy a different knob? And if a different knob is all I need, what part number knob goes with timer part number 131800500?
