I have a 2002 KitchedAid kuis185jss2 free standing ice maker. The machine will not stop filling the water reservoir pan. It continues to fill it to the point it overflows into the ice bin.
Things to note - 1) I have tested the inlet water valve. It measures ~300 ohms, so this is not malfunctioning. It also shuts off properly when i turn the machine off or unplug the unit from the wall 2) The machine does enter and do the cleaning cycle and complete properly. I ran the cleaning cycle twice using 2:1 ratio of water with CLR. So i have seen the circulation pump run.
Why does the machine not shut off the water and continue to the next cycle where the water is pumped the cold plate?
I cannot find any kind of feed back or shut off sensor. I have googled for hours and cant find anything... What else can i do? HELP!?

Did you ever figure this out. I have the same problem with a GE unit.

As it turns out the machine was operating as expected... I found a timinig diagram that said the water would run for 2minutes, off for 1, run for 2 more and then start cycling the water over the cold plate.
I was under the impression it shoudl shut off as soon as the fill bucket was full. This was a wrong assumption - my ice machine was working to begin with...

:) Now you have a better understanding of how your machine works. One of the biggest problems I have encountered is the lack of knowledge sales people have. There should be training for them as well as technicians.
