Washer makes squeal noise while agitation and spin cycle. Other than the loud squeal it seems to operate well. What is causing the noise? What is needed to fix this?

Hard to say because diagnosis of noise problems requires us to be there to hear the type of sound and its approximate source.

Since it is making the noise in both agitate and spin cycles I think a likely candidate is the pump, which runs in both cycles. Use this video (your screws are in the back of the console) to open it up and remove the pump. Check it for an obstruction or problem.

If that is not the problem, but the pump back on, by-pass the lid switch and run the machine with the cabinet off. You might be able to hear where the noise is coming from.
