Recieved replacement ignitor. We have authorization that the part ordered in fact is the correct part so that is not the problem. The problem is : the original part is round , and the new ignitor is flat.....the original part was hard wired, the new part has a connector, Can we cut and hard wire?

Yes you can cut it and wire it in, using wire nuts.
