the refrig was warm and the freezer was cold ther was no air coming from the fan. I took the fan out and gave it a spin and put it back in. It seems to be working. The service manual mentions service codes by holding door alarm and freezer - but it never works is the main controller bad?

Is the fridg. now working properly? If not, you can pull the fan and put 115 volts to it to see if it runs faster than it ran in the fridg. If it does, you probably have a bad controller.

No Rich it isn't working. The refrig part is 82 and the freezer is 0. Oh by the way my nephew goes to Penn State I noticed you are in State College. Small world.

Yes, I am a Penn. State Grad class of 66.
You should locate the schematic and measure the voltage to the fan motor at the controller board, most probably a bad board. I have replaced them before, rather easy.

Rich I pulled the motor and out 115v to it and it didn't spin with out help I'll replace the motor and let you know. Thanks again. I'll check voltage tonight as well. Low voltage is what caused the fan to mess up???

You should get 115 volts from the control board. If not, replace the board. Bad motors will burn out the control board, bad control boards will not burn out the motor.

Rich, I put the new motor in this afternoon and it seems to be working. The refrig is now 35 and the freezer is now -6. Thank you so much! I hope this is all and the board is working fine. I'll know by tomorrow if the refrig doesn't freeze and the damper works as it should. I hope all is well with you and I appreciate your time. Thanks again Rick Bensco.

Very good you fixed it. Everything fine here, will probably get beat at the hands of a fine Alabama football team.
