The agitator dogs 80040 takes me to a agitator repair kit that is different that what comes up when I enter the model number of my washer. Is the number you are recommending to me the actual part number of the item I need?

Yes that's the correct number for the agitator dogs, if you get them from here use part # AP3119063 and only $5.15 which is much cheaper than the MSRP. Nat

this is an easy fix pull the top off the agitator reach in and pull the stopper plug thats inside.you will see the plastic "dogs" that walk around the inside of the top agitator there is gear teeth around the inside edge that the dogs use. remove the bolt in the center and pull the top agitator off.the dogs and coupler can be replaced and the agitator reinstalled. Its easy I just did it.now the washer works great again and it cost about 20.00 for the parts and since I did not charge myself labor that was it.:D

Closure! You were right on again with your diagnosis of "the dogs". I ordered and installed the agitator repair kit for my washing machine and viola! Problem solved. The installation was very easy thanks to the exploded view of the entire agitator assembly, which is on this website. Thank you again.

You will need to pull off the fabric softener dispenser top and the cap underneath, then remove the bolt down in the top of the agitator to get to the dogs. Nat

Recently, our agitator stopped working. It barely "agitates" and it makes an odd sound. It is all one piece and I haven't been able to get it off to look at whats going on. Is there a trick to this?

It says LDA7600. The whole thing spins by hand, but won't spin while running. Everything else (other cycles) runs fine. My biggest problem is that I cant seem to get the agitator off to look under and see what might be wrong. Ive pulled pretty hard thinking it might just pop off and it doesn't. Is there a tool or something to get it off?
