I purchased a new heat element for my dryer, the new element doesn't have the thermostat attached to it. How do I change the old one to the new element. The plug in connectors do not pull loose and the porclein base is riveted to the metal case. Any help would be appreciated.

Slick,

I think this is the part you need ?

Part number: AP3094244
Part number: AP3094244

There has been a redesign, substitution of the part(s) and these are the hi limit thermostat and thermal fuse, they should both be repalced, whenever one has failed.

And in your case, when they redesigned / substituted the heater kit.

This ought to get you up and going, once you get it orderred.

Good Luck,

What is the part number of the new heating element?

If this is the correct part (as shown on the picture bellow), there is a special spot for the high limit thermostat on the side of the heating element frame.

You can use the old high limit thermostat if it passed the continuity test, but more reliable and safe to replace this thermostat as well.

There is a screw which secured the heating element to the heating box. As soon as this screw removed, just pull the heating element down. The dryer has to be tilt forward.

- The high limit thermostat Part number: AP3131941
Part number: AP3131941

Thanks for responding Gene, I was sent thermostat # WPL3977767, for my Kenmore model# 11069812990 dryer. I installed the new thermostat but still have no heat, any help would be appreciated. What other part could activate the heat element. My dryer only has 2 red wires going to the thermostat, I have them hooked up correctly, I noticed from your picture you have a seperate wire?

Let start it over...

I'm assuming the original problem was not heating dryer. In you first post you said: "I purchased a new heat element for my dryer".

Have you checked the old heating element for continuity or you order the part just by guess? Have you replaced it?

Do you have a multimeter?

Gene.
