I aquired this double oven second hand for what i considered a good deal at the time. I powered it up for a few seconds and proceeded to modify my cabinetry to fit the applience. after instillation and during initial test run the unit shuts down after a few minutes and gives me a bake temp runaway alarm code ( i called it in to kitchen aid).

My question to you guru's is this: would replacing the control board fix this problem or are there multiple possibilities that could cause this. I really do not want to throw hundreds of dollars more at this if there may be many more hundreds to follw when in the end i could have bought a new unit with a warenty for what i will wind up having in this one.

Second question: How old is this unit? any ideas?

Which error code exactly was shown and for which oven?

We need the serial number of the oven to tell how old is it.

I don't like to jump in on Gen's post but this might help. It shows diagnostics & error codes.

According to the tech sheets, gratefully provided by Nat, the "F2-E0" error code means "Keypad is not connected" and has nothing to do with runaway temperature.

Open the control panel and check how firm is the control panel ribbon connected to the control board. If there is nothing wrong then replace the control panel.

In order to provide the right part number for the control panel we need the color of it.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid oven Model KEBS277DBL1

P.S. Your oven made in 1996
