my ice maker on my side by side refrigerator has no water in it i checked the black filler hose and it is clear i did have a very quick power failure could that have burned something up i get water to the door and when i open the frezzer door the opits blink red when i close the flap on the left side it stays solid red any ideas thanks john:confused:

Try switching the electrical leads on the water valve and see if you get water out of the water dispenser. If so then the problem is in the IM. Nat

Sorry..... the switch the electrical leads on the water valve, which feeds water to the IM (ice maker). If not then the valve is out. Nat

hey nat you were right on the money i changed the leads pressed the water button on the door and got water to the im thanks a bunch ill get the part tomorrow...oh by the way for everyone else out there with this problem get rid of the plastic water line running to your refrigerator and spend the money on 1/4 inch copper tubing youll be happy you did you should see the junk thats in my water valve and i have a whole house water filter and the one in the fridge so please use copper and youll get cleaner and better tasting water nat thatmks again i owe you john

John, You lost me for a minuite, which part are you getting? Since you got water after switching the leads then it's probably the IM not the valve.... Is the IM cycling the easy way to see if it will dump ice after getting water. It could be one part of the IM, like the thermostat or the emitter boards. Nat

hey nat yes when i switched the leads and pushed the water dispenser i got water to the ice tray but the i m didnt cycle so i guess i need a new i m is it cheaper to just replace parts and will this involve alot of work it seems cheaper to buy the whole i m thanks john p.s. sorry obout not getting back to you earlier had to go to my nephews football game
